Luk Yuen's Chinese Delights in Glorietta Complex, Makati

Luk Yuen's Chinese Delights in Glorietta Complex, Makati

Since I have been working in Makati for more than a year already, it sometimes feel that there is nothing much to explore anymore when it comes to the food scene. Hence, what we did was to go a little farther to Glorietta. That's when we ended up trying Luk Yuen! By the name itself, you'll already have an idea that this place serves Chinese dishes, so I guess that's pretty well-established. Anyway, join me as I explore some of the dishes here in this restaurant.

Luk Yuen in Glorietta Complex, Makati

This particular branch in Glorietta was able to maximize seating capacity with its spacious interior and loft. When we got there during lunch time, we just needed to wait for about 4 minutes before getting seated.

Interior of Luk Yuen

The interior exudes the typical vibe you'll find in a Chinese restaurant -- casual and sufficiently comfy, which makes it a great place for a barkada eat out or a family salu-salo.

Alright, let's proceed with the dishes we tried, starting off with the seafood rolls!

Seafood Rolls Wrapped in Japanese Seaweed (3 pcs) || P180
 Seafood Rolls Wrapped in Japanese Seaweed

This seafood rolls was delightful with its interesting crunch and seafood mix in its core (crabsticks and shrimps). The sweet and sour sauce that went with it added a good blend to its already palatable taste.

If you feel your heart is too cold, you may want to warm it up with a congee here in Luk Yuen. This restaurant is very well known for this stuff.

Beef Brisket || P120 - Small || P195 - Regular
 Beef Brisket Noodles

The Beef Brisket was very much savory with from its broth to the beef itself. Every sip is full of distinct meaty taste that slides down smoothly.

Boneless Chicken in Lemon Sauce || P295

The lemon sauce of this chicken captures the citrus essence that blends well with the sweetness. We got this free from the running promo during our visit.

Golden Fried Chicken || P195

Although the taste of this chicken was well above decent, it still was considerably "ordinary" with nothing much to offer. Hence, my personal view on this is to avoid this, and just try other more interesting dishes (e.g. any of the dishes above).

Luk Yuen - Overall Ratings and Summary

Note: Unshaded stars are equivalents of half-stars. The ratings apply solely to this dining experience.
Place ★★
Taste  ★★
Service  ★★
Value for Money ★★
Budget: P200 or less for a personal rice bowl or noodles; at least P300 each for a moderate dining experience for a group coming in 4

With our experience, I would say that Luk Yuen can be place where you can have comfort Chinese food. The serving sizes are great and the prices of a handful dishes are within reach, so you don't have nothing to worry much about breaking the budget. Service is above satisfactory, since the waiters seemed friendly and approachable.
