Macao Imperial Tea in Circuit Mall, Makati

Macao Imperial Tea in Circuit Mall, Makati

When we dropped my brother off the airport for his business trip, we decided to have a family dinner afterwards. Everyone agreed that we were all craving for some buffalo wings, so we stopped by the one nearest to our place — Wing Stop in Circuit Mall. We wanted to have desserts elsewhere , supposedly in Mudpie Heaven (read more), but it was already closed at 10:00 pm.

We strolled around Circuit, and finally settled down here in Macao Imperial Tea.

Initially, when I first saw this place, I thought it was a Chinese restaurant. And when I say restaurant, I was imagining huge round tables with red cloth on it. Turned out, it was totally different. Well, it’s true that they serve food here, but only snacks and small dishes. Rather, this place is a "tea place”. Yeah, the name of the place was supposed to hint that already, but maybe I was just too slow.

Anyway, what’s eye-catching aside from the “classy” interior (which I guess draws from Macao inspiration) is this huge stuffed teddy bear. Unfortunately, I was not able to snap a photo of it. Well, at least it will be a surprise for you. It’s almost as huge as a person!

Macao Imperial Tea - a fancy tea place
The drink selection is expansive, and they have unique-looking cola drinks, but we still had our eyes fixed on the milk tea. Hence, for the night, we had two beverages and a cake.

The first one was the Cream Cheese Milk Tea (P120) which I had fallen in love with in just a sip. I loved how creamy and lightly foamy the cheese was, while its saltiness balanced the sweetness of the milk tea. The pearls were also lovely with soft texture that playfully glided in my mouth. Uhmazing!

The Triple Chocolate Hazelnut (P155), which was my brother’s, was excellent as well, and despite my lack of fondness for hazelnut when it comes to drinks, I was able to appreciate this. I just loved how rich the chocolate was, and the hazelnut didn’t taste that “synthetic” unlike other tea/coffee shops. Next time, I’ll just have the regular chocolate without the hazelnut.

For the cake, we had this Oreo Cheesecake (P145) which was awesome! The creaminess and right softness was spot on, and the coat of chocolate on top just amazed me with its subtle bitterness. The blend of flavors was great. It certainly did not disappoint!

Needless to say, everyone left the shop with gleaming faces. We will certainly come back!
