August 10, 2014 - In the recent episode of Idol Sa Kusina, Chef Boy Logro presented a handful of Asian merienda delights, and I am writing this blog post to give a recap of what happened.

First, let me share this photo of the set, since I was invited to drop by the studio. Unfortunately, I was too busy reviewing for the board exam that I needed to send out my sister as the representative. Luckily, she was happy to do it.

It was interesting to find out what was happening behind the cameras, and it would seem surprising that the set actually looks smaller as opposed to what it seems in the television. The camera indeed is magical!

Moving on, the theme for this particular episode is Asian merienda, which featured some Japanese, Vietnamese and Chinese delights. The special guest for this episode of Idol sa Kusina is Louise Delos Reyes, who enjoyed assisting Bettina Carlos and the amazing Chef Boy Logro.

Now, we shall go to the most enjoyable part - the cooking itself! In total, there were 6 dishes prepared, with an amazing cooler as a "dessert" and at the same time a drink.

This particular recipe of Chef Boy Logro was Japanese-inspired; hence, there was a mild sweetness innate with the "ramen". Also, this offered a bountiful serving of the meat (which you may adjust when you cook it yourself).

Japanese Gyoza

The gyoza cooked during the show was tasty and very easy to prepare (especially when you get acquainted with how you fold the wrapper the Gyoza way).

If well-executed, the Beef Mami will provide you with a potently tasty broth that perfectly goes well with the tender beef. This was how it tasted, according to my sister.

This toasted siopao was really interesting in such a way that it was "baked". Most likely, you are familiar with the regular steamed siopao as well as the fried siopao, but I bet you'll agree that it is not often that you'll find a toasted siopao.

My sister was able to note that the filling was a bit scarce. She added that it could have been really fantastic with more meat filling. The good news is you can alter the recipe to cater to this!

Pho Beef Noodles

This Pho Beef Noodles was a memorable dish for sister tried because of its adventurous kick (i.e. spiciness) and herby taste coming from the coriander. Overall, the dish was overflowing with flavors!

Vietnamese Spring Rolls

You can now cook Vietnamese Spring Rolls at home!
The Vietnamese Spring Rolls were ordinarily good and supposedly healthy (but contradicted by frying). Hence, if you happen to be health conscious, you may prefer not to fry them instead. However, what made this dish interesting was the sauce that Chef Boy Logro prepared.

Although this drink is just simple and very easy to prepare, it was refreshingly good! With its controlled level of sweetness and lightness in terms of flavor, my sister was able to fully appreciate it.
