Love for Howol
There is something about hole-in-the-wall restaurants (let's just call them Howol) that really stroke my curiosity. First off, I love the thrill involved in locating and spotting the place. Second, the food in these restaurants are usually incredibly noteworthy! I'm assuming it's because of the restaurants' simplicity or lack of pretentious glamour that makes the dining experience more pure and less complex.

However to tell you frankly, despite my thirst to explore howol restaurants, I've only been to a few, and in fact, I can enumerate them here.

Yes, it may be a short list, but luckily I got to grow it with one more entry. Just this Saturday, I got invited to try out an Italian-inspired howol restaurant in Kapitolyo, and it goes with the name Pomodoro Pizza Kitchen.

A Humble Place for Italian Delights
Pomodoro Pizza Kitchen is a humble 15-seater restaurant with an extremely simplistic outdoor feel (yeah, that's a euphemism for being an open resto without an aircon).

Frankly speaking, when I first had a glance of the place, I got a bit hesitant, thinking "Does this restaurant really serve great dishes?" True enough, it's indeed better not to judge a book by its cover. The quality of the dishes was able to divert our attention towards the food. Well, speaking of food, let's explore some of them!

Note: I suggest that you dine here in the evening so that you'll enjoy the night breeze.

Dishes here are well-curated with recipes coming from the chef from Galileo Enoteca Italian Restaurant, improved and tweaked by the own chef of Pomodoro.

This refreshing iced tea was marked by a sweet mango-like flavored iced tea. It somehow reminded me of the iced tea of Besty's Kitchen.

This Gamberetto Pizza featured a very tasty sauce marked with an authentic sourness and subtle sweetness. This was further improved by the rich seafood and garlic taste.

Aligue Pasta || P132

A balance of unhealthiness and healthiness - Aligue Pasta!
The Aligue Pasta was naturally greasy because of the aligue, but with it came a playful fatty seafood zest. Also, the squid was notably fresh evidenced by its tenderness.

Spanish Sardines Pasta || P119
Spanish Sardines and Black olives sauteed in garlic and olive oil

Adventure for the palate - Spanish Sardines Pasta of Pomodoro
The dish showcased a tasty pesto essence paired with a kick coming from the sardines. Highly enjoyable!

Spaghetti with Meatballs || P132
Two large Italian meatballs topped on simmered Pomodoro sauce

Spaghetti with crunchy and tasty meatballs - so good!
The meatball had an enjoyable crunch that was light on the flavor but perfectly went well with the palatable sourness of the sauce.

Pomodoro Pizza Kitchen - Summary
Overall, Pomodoro Italian Kitchen really had something delightful in store for the visiting foodies despite the lack of any outlandish or glamorous design and interior. In fact, in my opinion, it's one of those howols that proves that (more than money) passion as capital surely makes a difference!
