Eat-All-You-Can Dimsum in Shang Palace of Makati Shangri-La Hotel
While the rain was pouring mightily on a fine Wednesday, I got the pleasure of enjoying great comforting food in the Shang Palace of Makati Shangri-La hotel. This in-house restaurant of the said hotel serves authentic Chinese food and is currently being regarded as one of the best homes of dimsum.
With its classy yet comfy ambiance, Shang Palace allows you to dine at ease and in peace, and the best part is it is suitable both as a dating place and a family eat-out destination.
For this particular visit, I was able to check out the Dim Sum Plus of the restaurant where I got to taste the awesome varieties of my old favorites as well as some exciting new ones! Details of the said promo are as follows:
The Dim Sum Plus is an eat all you can dimsum promo of Shang Palace where you can have unlimited dimsum, appetizers, soup, noodles and rice. Plus, you'll have one choice of main course. All for only P888 per person (subject to tax & service charge).
Terms and Conditions:
- Promo is applicable only for lunch (Mondays to Saturdays)
- Not valid with Club Gourmet and other discounts
- Price is subject to service charge and applicable government taxes
The appetizers for the promo include the following:

These appetizers were finely crafted enabling us to have a great start for this dimsum feast!

Hot Prawn Salad
The Hot Prawn Salad was definitely a star with its rightly sweet and creamy sauce wrapping the fried fresh prawns. Definitely an instant favorite!
Sauteed Beef with Celery in Sichuan Sauce
What I was able to note about this beef was its remarkable tenderness!

Barbecued Pork Pie
This pork pie was really a sweet treat with its savory asado filling (although the pastry can still be made more delicate to enable us to further enjoy the asado).
Deep-fried Taro Puffs with Diced Scallops
These taro puffs was unexpectedly amazing especially with the scallops adding a dynamic flavor!
Deep-fried Vegetable Spring Roll
These spring rolls was also something I didn't expect to be as good. I may not completely remember how it tasted, but it was great.
Pan-fried Turnip Cake with XO Sauce
Prawn-with-cheese Ball
These prawn balls with cheese filling was fine, although not as remarkable as the other dishes.
Steamed Chicken Feet with Spicy Black Bean Sauce
Steamed Crystal Skin Shrimp Dumplings
These shrimp dumplings were really fantastic with a generous inclusion of shrimps. It was a little salty than usual, but I found the quality amazing.
Spinach Dumplings Stuffed with Shrimps
Steamed Pork Ribs with Black Bean Sauce
Steamed Pork Dumplings with Fish Roe
These steamed pork dumplings was also quite memorable with great flavor and texture. All the things I want for a siomai were here, so I was really happy with it.
Shanghai Xiao Long Bao
The Xiao Long Bao was also excellent here in Shang Palace. It had this amazing "soupiness" that made it really comforting to eat.
Desserts

This mango sago dessert was perhaps one of the memorable ones I tried because of its balanced sweetness and creaminess. It was certainly dreamy!

Budget: P980 each for this unlimited dimsum promo
Overall, I found my experience here in Shang Palace delightfully memorable, since I got to taste really fantastic dimsum dishes. Among those I tried, my favorites would be the Hot Prawn Salad, Steamed Pork Dumplings, Hakaw and the Xiao Long Bao.
Hence, if you are eager to experience great Chinese food over great ambiance, you may really want to check this place out!
