Diner on 16th - All-Day Breakfast Waffles and Chicken in Kapitolyo

Diner on 16th - All-Day Breakfast Waffles and Chicken in Kapitolyo

After an extremely exhausting day spent in Jump Yard, we decided to recharge all our energies through a "satisfying" linner (lunch + dinner). Since I am not too familiar with the area, I just searched recommendations online. Initially, I handpicked Tomahawk Chops & Grill, but to our disappointment, it does not operate in between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM. That's when someone blurted out Diner on 16th. The next thing we knew, we were already dining in the said restaurant.

Interior of Diner on 16th in Kapitolyo

The interior of Diner on 16th has this retro-laid back feel perfect for those who just want to chill. There is also a beer pong table outside for those who want to add notch to their barkada chill out. Food served are mostly the "comfort food" we know, and Diner on 16th is famous for the waffles and chicken dishes.

Taking Photo of a Food - Waffles

This appetizer was very much refreshing for the eyes, since it was our first time to see such dish that infuses the concept of nachos in waffles. However, although the concept is interesting, the taste was somehow chaotic -- too many flavors pushing and pulling.

S'mores Milkshake (P134) and Caramel Popcorn Milkshake (P133)

The milkshakes here in Diner on 16th are promising due to their interesting appeal. The taste were above satisfactory, but what I liked about these two milkshakes were there tolerable sweetness.

Honey Sriracha Pulled Chicken Waffles || P237
Roasted pulled chicken, honey sriracha, classic waffle, ranch dressing

This Honey Sriracha Pulled Chicken was a total winner among our group! It had this interesting hotness that goes with the potent yet balanced flavor of the chicken. For those who are in for a bold taste with a mild to moderate kick, I suggest you go for this one!

Chicken Buffalo Kabob || P197

Another star of our linner was this Chicken Buffalo Kebab. It simply captivated our palate with its intense flavors and kick at the end.  Also, the dressing was a fantastic partner for the chicken. Thumbs up for this!

Waffle Florentine || P265
Buttermilk chicken, classic waffle, poached egg, spinach, Hollandaise sauce, bacon
Waffle Florentine

We got curious to check out this dish because of the poached egg, and indeed it was what made this dish noteworthy. Well, the chicken itself was as regular as the buttermilk chicken (featured below), but the eggs and the sauce just added flare for the palate.

Buttermilk Chicken and Waffles || P256

The Buttermilk Chicken and Waffles was the most ordinary dish among those that we ordered. Although it was decent, I would suggest that you try other waffle dishes which are far more interesting.

Soy Ginger Glazed Chicken and Ube Waffles || P249

This dish was another interesting pick due to the ube waffles. However, what really made this sparkle was the soy-ginger chicken, although I would have really enjoyed it more if the chicken was a little more tender.

Beer-Battered Chicken and Waffles || P256
Beer-battered chicken strips, classic waffle, 2 strips of bacon and bourbon dressing

The Beer-Battered Chicken was far more interesting than the buttermilk version. This one has a more playful flavor coming perhaps from the "beer".
