Forest House - A Must-Visit Restaurant in Baguio
Earlier I thought that Baguio is a destination chosen only for the temperature and some activities on the side (e.g. strawberry-picking, horseback riding). I wasn’t considering it as a food haven worth exploring. On my previous ascends, I failed to come across restaurants that I would say visit-worthy, except maybe for Canto Ribs and maybe Secret Garden. All others felt like meh. However, our recent experience in the Forest House made me think that I just might be not exploring enough.
Forest House is a bed and breakfast establishment offering great line up of dishes at a relatively affordable price range. However, what’s lovable about the bistro is the interior as well as the dining area at the balcony. It gives it this authentic yet un-intimidating classy feel.
Upon entering, you’ll already get a feeling like you are in a fancy restaurant, but there's also something in the air that is both homey and cozy. The ambiance then makes the restaurant suitable for a family celebrations and even date nights.
The menu is all beefed up with a wide array of selection. It may seem overwhelming at first, but as you read through the menu, it becomes friendlier. They have starters (soup, salad and other appetizers), pizzas, sandwiches, main course, desserts and etc.
Note: I forgot to take note of the prices when we dined in, so I just used the ones listed in their website, which I think are close enough with what we paid for (maybe a little higher). Anyway, we averaged P350 per person to enjoy the dishes here.
The night started off with the Four Cheese Pizza (P295). In came in with all this highly appealing look, and bite-sized cuts. Interestingly, it was as yummy as it looked. Great starter!
The Fettuccine Carbonara (P280) was richly creamy giving each bite truly momentous for white-sauce lover like me. It was also rightly seasoned making it highly enjoyable down to the last strand.
The Canton Guisado (P205) is a classic. What we loved about the dish is the amount of meat and other sahog included.
The Sesame Crusted Fish Fillet (P295) is another stellar dish with a wonderful plating. In all honestly, it was not as mind-blowing as it looked, but it was very much satisfying to munch.
The Forest House Wine Sauced Chicken (P295) was another personal favorite here in Forest House. I just love how they made the sauce. It was delightfully creamy, lemony and zesty giving the chicken a pronounced taste.
The Lengua con Setas (P355), although the least of my favorite among all that we had for the night, was comforting with its tender chunks of the ox tongue. It just lagged behind in terms of the plating which affected my perception of the taste.
We skipped desserts because we opted to have it in the famous batirol shop in Baguio. However, funny enough, it was closed.

Forest House impressed us with its captivating ambiance, and the balcony dining area is something you may want to reserve your seats at. The dishes are generally wonderfully plated, and they are as delicious as they appear. Prices are reasonable considering the experience, and the servers are accommodating.
