Food Review: First Baker's Special Silvanas
Crunchy on the outside yet very creamy-buttery in the inside? Well, I can't think of anything else that suits this description other than Silvanas. And probably, by this time, you are already imagining it landing on your lips with a cold kiss, followed by a crisp breaking of the pastry, ending with this melty semi-sweet dream.
At first, I thought that all silvanas are created almost equal. I mean, how could you differentiate such dessert with a set of very distinct characteristics. I also added to myself that perhaps the only thing tweakable was the flavor. However, I would soon end up breaking this myth, especially when I got to try First Baker's Silvanas.
It was not love at first sight. As a matter of fact, on my first piece I gave it brutal comments such as "Ang kunat naman nito". Apparently, 1 out of 5 of the silvanas turns out to have this chewy outer texture. Hence, I became quick to judge. However, on my second piece (and this time, it got the crunchiness right), I fell in love. The crunch happened in a blink of a moment, one that you may easily miss when you don't give the focus that it deserves, but when you do, you can't help but to fall in love as you close your eyes in its seductive goodness.

Really. No kidding. By the way, this is not in any way sponsored, as this box was given by my brother's girlfriend.
I just love how delicately sweet this dessert it, and for me, this tops that of the famous silvannas of Dumaguete, Sans Rival (read more), but only with a slim margin. The latter one still is and will always be awesome (hopefully).
Are you ready to try? Well, if you are, I'm sharing their Facebook post below on how to order. Enjoy!
